  Glad you're here.  If we've never met, let me introduce myself. 

 

My name is Dan Van Neste.  I 'm an author and biographer.  I was born in Michigan,  and was a nationally known recording artist and rehabilitation counselor prior to becoming a writer.  During the past two decades I have penned over 50 major movie-related articles for various magazines, newspapers, and film journals commemorating the films, the stars, and moviemakers from the celebrated "golden age" of the cinema.  Although I've written pieces for many noted publications, I'm probably best known for my movie star profiles in Classic Images and Films of the Golden Age magazines which have merited seven cover stories and often included original interviews with vintage filmmakers.   I'm especially proud of my two books, The Whistler: Stepping Into the Shadows  dedicated to the legacy of the influential, groundbreaking suspense film series produced by Columbia Pictures (1944-48), and The Magnificent Heel, The Life and Films of Ricardo Cortez, a biography and filmography of the famed actor.   Both are published by BearManor Media.
